It has been quite a while since I last posted a ‘blog’. Simply because I have been too busy! All in a very good way though.
We had an extremely busy season in 2010. I made many many wedding cakes for lots of lovely brides and grooms, including taking on an order for 80 people with only 8 days notice – it can be done!!! But please don’t wait that late I only took this on because Lucy the wedding planner from Cafe Mambo weddings is so lovely I wanted to help her in making the wedding a success. It was a great success!! Lucy did it from start to finish in 8 days!!!!! The couple had been badly let down by another venue hence the late planning.
This coming season I already have booked and confirmed over half of my quota. So weddings on Ibiza are going to plentiful and booking up really fast.
My partner Paul – blessings on Ibiza is also extremley busy this coming season and has also quite a full quota – although he can do more blessings than I can manage cakes Please remember if you use us both we give a discount
I did take the time to send of a few samples of my cakes to the ‘Wedding Cake’ – A design Source magazine and was rewarded with photographs appearing in edition number 37 and more will be published in edition 38 (Out in January 2011). I made many different and beautiful cakes this year, but of course I have my favorites the top ones being: (in no order!) the lovely cup cake tower I did for Teri and Andy at the beautiful Amante beach club (see my previous blog for a picture of the ‘frangipani cake’). Another favorite was the wedding cake of 3 tiers with cascading roses – over a hundred hand made roses hand painted with ‘creamy gold edges’ were fastened to this cake, which was made up of a chocolate sponge layer, a lemon sponge layer and the now very unusual rich fruit cake for the top tier, I made the top tier individually so that it could be removed and saved for a later date, as this type of cake keeps for a year or more if stored correctly. I enjoyed making this cake immensley and am looking forward to creating similiar cakes this coming season, see a picture of it here:
I have more orders for the ‘tiered cakes’ this year – maybe the popularity of the cup cakes is fading away? although most of my orders are for cup cakes and they are ideal because each guest has their very own cake. Something a little different was the ‘sweets table’ I did for Atzaro – I loved getting all the beautiful lilac white and silver things together. See a picture here: lilac cakes
Another favorite was the gorgeous cup cake tower I made for Eithne and Simon at the beautiful venue of Atzaro, I loved the bold rich colours of this cake, it did require quite a lot of work though! especially the top centre piece of hand made (and hand painted) tiger lilies which I wired together, hopefully the bride kept these as a sovenior (the sugarcraft flowers will keep indefintely if stored correctly). I have posted a picture of this unusual and stunning cake, the photograph was taken by that great photographer: Ana Lui
I enjoyed working on all my cakes and of course meeting all the lovely couples who chose Ibiza for their very special day.
I am now looking forward to the new fresh season of 2011 – I have lots of lovely new ideas and I am
in the process of having a new web site built which will hopefully incorporate some of these ideas along with many of the wedding cakes made last season and before.
In the meantime all you brides and grooms to be, enjoy your planning for a wonderful wedding on Ibiza.
