When a wedding planner asks me to make the wedding cake I often do not get to meet the wedding couple and in fact often create a cake on the words from the wedding planner, I find this a little harder to do and worry until it is delivered eaten and the ‘feedback’ comes back to me!!!!
Last week I delivered one such wedding cake to the cliff top near Es Vedra,
The specifications from the planners being ‘a cup cake tower of lemon flavour cakes finished with sunset colours’. I was also asked to stay and help to serve the cake supplying a suitable table, napkins and a knife for the cutting ceremony, which of course was no problem as I had the privilege to stay and watch the ceremony and be involved in the wonderful feeling that the wedding blessing evokes, especially in such a special and wonderful romantic location.
The idea of having the wedding cake with champagne immediately after the blessing to me is quite novel it really works very well, although the wedding cake is consumed very quickly so is not on show for very long.
Here is a picture of the finished wedding cake – I made a variety of colours ranging from yellow to red I then dusted them with edible petal dust and added edible sparkle to the edges of each flower.
And ……….Yes – I got to meet the bride and groom who were delighted with the colours and design and loved the lemon cake
